LinkedIn is the last meaningless social network I have access to. Once in a while I will log in and see posts from various technology companies that encourage customers to "Check out this blog post/webinar hosted by our expert in a particular domain". In this case it was disaster recovery.

These people are definitely helpful, but classifying them as experts is laughable.

When's the last time they executed an actual DR plan? At what level of detail are they operating? What is their scope of tools and platforms?

We undervalue those that have applied, practical knowledge and overvalue those with theoretical knowledge.

The way to leverage your partners and their resources are tactically. Pull them in as needed with as narrow scope as necessary. Ultimately, you are the expert . You own the data, software, platform, people and execution. You understand how a disaster and the following downtime impact the company. Own that knowledge and use it to show value.
